Healthy Sleep for Healthy Relationships with Wendy Troxel

Updated: Oct 18, 2023

Is a good night’s sleep the secret to a stronger relationship?

In this episode of the Beauty of Conflict, Susan and CrisMarie welcome Wendy Troxel, sleep expert and Senior Behavioral and Social Scientist at the RAND Corporation, to talk about the importance of healthy sleep in maintaining strong relationships, particularly within couples. Dr. Wendy discusses her research and clinical experience related to the interplay between sleep and relationships. She emphasizes the significance of open communication between partners about their sleep preferences and challenges, dispelling the idea that there's a one-size-fits-all solution for couples' sleep. Dr. Wendy also plugs in her insights on the impact of societal norms and gender differences in sleep patterns on couples, and her take on healthier school start times for adolescents to better align with their natural sleep rhythms.
